ARTIST STATEMENT

Artist and designer graduated form University of Brighton, refining her own visual and conceptual vocabulary that emerged through her focus on the points of intersection between 2D work, 3D objects and spatial analysis.  Her artwork sometimes takes a critical view of social, political and cultural issues.  Having engaged subjects as diverse as the culture, history, architecture and geometry, her work reproduces familiar visual signs, arranging them into new conceptually layered pieces.  Often times these themes are combined into 3D objects and often in to paintings and photographs.  She uses a variety of materials and processes in each project and her methodology is consistent. Although there may not always be material similarities between the different projects they are linked by recurring formal concerns and through the subject matter. The subject matter of each body of work determines the materials and the forms of the work.  Each project often consists of multiple works, often in a range of different media, grouped around specific themes and meanings.  During research and production new areas of interest arise and lead to the next body of work.

Glorious destruction is a collection includes burnt textiles and metal pieces. The urge to destroy is also a creative urge and in time of destruction can always create something.  To create and to substitute the destruction with new truths that run down from the top of the head and out of the heart.
