I traverse an in-between world where shapes and lines collide to create figures and impromptu meetings. I work to combine lines and forms, opacity and transparency to explore themes of connectedness, humor, and foreboding in my own idiosyncratic world. I use this world to examine or mirror current and past thought obsessions that are sometimes intentionally autobiographical. I also use it as a basis for more formal compositional play and investigation.
My work often starts with a single shape or figural gesture that interests me and then things progress from there. I’ll add and subtract shapes, define and re-define with lines, cover and reveal in order to achieve a world that feels right somehow.
