ARTIST STATEMENT

Drawn to the idea of infrastructure as a system, I explore materialism as a use of language in elevating the found object’s frame of context. Incorporating the outside world into my practice, I access the infinite possibilities of composition and structure. My focus lies within sculpture and print-media, where the interaction between two-dimensional space and three-dimensional space form a sensory experience and encounter. Interested in the form of display through functionality, I create systems through the use of industrial and natural materials, along with selected found objects to examine the act of producing through procedures. Found remnants of infrastructure are placed in a domestic setting creating a purgatory for the lost objects. In examining the process of selection, I push the boundaries of display through the figurative and literal forces of attraction.
